On Sunday December 11, 2005, while the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) held their annual dinner in support of the State of Israel, a demonstration was held outside the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, NYC.
The Al-Awda, Palestinian Right of Return, joined by Anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews of Neturei Karta International protested the event.
Said a Neturei Karta spokesperson: "Neither the ZOA nor the State of
'Israel" are
representing the entire Jewish People. They can speak just for
themselves or for their supporters. True Jews around the world
remain loyal to Judaism. God has put us into exile. We are forbidden
to rule over a state of our own; we are commanded to be loyal to
the host nations we are living in; and we are definitely forbidden
not to take any part in oppressing other people."
The demonstration was very peaceful and informative to many by-passers.
