Anti-Zionist
Orthodox Jews joined hundreds of Palestinian-Americans
gathered outside the United Nations on a rainy Friday,
May 16, 2008 to protest the 60th anniversary of "Israel's
statehood" and to educate the American public on
Palestinians' displacement since its 1948 establishment.
The anniversary of the establishment of "Israel" is known as "the Nakba" or catastrophe for many displaced Palestinians. Rabbi Dovid Feldman from Neturei Karta - Jews United Against Zionism said, "this is not only a Nakba for the Palestinian people; this is a tragedy for Jewish people as well."
"They are stepping on everything worth holy, they are stepping on our religion, on our Torah," he said.
"On top of this all, they are repressing other people, fighting other people, creating animosity, creating hate, and destroyed the nice, peaceful coexistence between the Jewish people and the Muslims in Palestine and elsewhere," he added.
